Where Were YOU When the Lights Went Out?

I guess Saturday night of Texas week would be the worst possible time for the electricity to go out. But I bet Saturday night of Bikefest would run a close second.

And that is what just happened. At least on my block. Which is the same block as the police department. Where things got very busy during and just after that five minute period when

the lights went out. 9:30 PM. Saturday night. Bikefest.

This must have been major outage as the power went off here in PI also. Took us a while, but we finally realized that the RV we're living in had battery-powered lights! Still learning....

Well I had my clothes on, lit a few candles, and the bikers got real quiet. Then the lights came on and the bikers went nuts! There were cheers and lots of that booming sound that only a Harley can make.

They're gone now, a shame since they really could have used an extra no-rain day. Lord knows the local businesses could have, too.

How many of you see regular brownouts? How about overvoltage conditions (lights getting brighter is one indicator)? I'm amazed at how often my UPS reports these conditions. The local power guy said it was a problem with the large line capacitors salting up but that doesn't explain both conditions!

Just curious...
