Cameron County Parks Mission Statement

You know those ubiquitous web site mission statements that too many of my clients want added to their sites but that hardly anyone bothers to read? Well, intrepid reporter Nancy has located one of interest to anyone watching the goings on at Isla Blanca Park:

The Cameron County Parks System Mission is “To provide safe, quality outdoor recreation opportunities to the citizens and visitors of Cameron County at an affordable price and to develop and protect the County’s coastal resources and natural habitats.”

I would like to see plans for the outdoor casino, aquarium and imax theater.

if this isn't an oxymoron, a good lawyer ought to be able to do something with that!

I don't mean to be "fair and balanced" as some political thingy but my thinking is that the Cameron County Commissioners had absolutely no idea that people would become so upset about this development. So maybe they're having a "well duh" moment the same time we are!

Don't expect people to read minds, and commissioners are people, too. Perhaps in their mind the idea was to raise 50 million bucks to spread to all county parks and make them all better, while preserving access to isla Blanca.

I know, I'm playing devil's advocate here, but unless people tell their minds the powers-that-be will assume we're all duckey-wuckey and love it. Be nice ... it helps get things done.

Why does that old, bad joke come to mind:

"How do you say 'screw you' in yiddish?"

"Trust me! Trust me!"
