New Artificial Reef to be created off South Padre
GALVESTON — The old Texas Clipper, which for years ferried students from Texas A&M at Galveston around the world, will be sunk off the coast of South Padre Island this summer, a state official said.

Thanks, sf, that's good news for us offshore mosquito fleet who are tired of going out 2-3 hours for some tourist snapper. The Texas Clipper will be in 134 feet of water only about 17 nautical miles from the jetty - our jetty! That's about half the trip. The folks up in her home port, Galveston, are a little miffed about that ... it's a huge prize.
