Tequila Frogs Gets Mean

There we were, enjoying some great acoustic tunes at Palm St. Pier, courtesy of Raybo, Matt and Jack Hartwell. then Connie the manager gets on the mic to tell everyone they have to move their cars. It seems the Tequila Frog folks own the Palm St. Pier parking lot... which is kinda weird. And they suddenly decided at about 10 last night to reclaim it. Not that they needed it, mind you. The place was basically dead, while PSP was having a pretty good night.

County constables and other official types showed up, prepared to tow. I had a chat with the gent representing TF and he told me that the PSP parking lot was going to be utilized as a VIP parking lot for the locals.

So by a raise of hands: how many of you locals are waiting in line to get in Tequila Frogs?

Yup. That's about what I thought.

I hazard a guess that a lot more locals frequent PSP than TF, but that is just a guess. Anyway, if the TF folks own the property then they have a right to do with it what they like. But couldn't they have given the PSP some advance warning so they could put up signs directing their patrons to their off-site parking lot? After the constables left, PSP had to post an employee out there for the rest of the evening warning folks they would get towed if they parked there.

Any way you look at it, Tequila Frogs handled things badly, and after last night you couldn't pay me enough to go there.

Are you sure about all this? It sounds corrupt as hell bringing in the cops. Government is supposed to work for us, not for some private [expletive deleted]. Get a security company for the private property if that's your deal. The story about that area near Tequila Frogs is far from over. Much of the Rights of Way is not what you think. The story is not over by any means.

Hi, I learned about the existence of the Palm Street Pier recently and this is a shame. I wrote about your experience at my blog. Keep up the great writing.

I understood the "frog" had been sold. Who owns it now?

Dunno, Troy Giles doesn't have it on his listings website anymore. My best guess is that negotiations are underway to develop the land and that it was leased to a third party to operate it in the meantime.

More later when I get the facts, as the end of Laguna Drive is VERY interesting ...

Say Anne that was a nice blog about Palm Street Pier! They hosted our little "Tiki" fest this year and it was a raging success, what with drummers, kayaks, fireworks, singers, a professional belly dancer, and the whole nine yards. Next May we'll be back ...

Poor Tequila Frogs. It had a real crappy Spring Break and few tourists or "islanders" would be going there in the summer. Nasty joint ...

Can we save Parrot Eyes and get rid of Frogs forever? Sounds cool to me.

I just got a cell phone report from Raybo - Palm Streeet Pier's new "bouncer." He says things are escalating into all out war between the two establishments and the bartenders at PSP are feeling threatened.

Raybo is a good choice for the job - he is a big guy who counters hostility with love. I hope his magic works on the TF folks...

Tequila Frogs just hasn't been the the same since the "Miami Vice" days of the 80's and was called Bermuda's and managed by our dear old departed friend Robbie Montemayor.
